Starting with the Modern Blanket Toss, Dr. John Monahan created a way to engage high school students by teaching them through technology. After proof of concept, the National Science Foundation then funded a 4-year grant to replicate this idea from Fairbanks, Alaska to other Upward Bound and TRIO programs across the United States. When the grant ended in 2019, T3 continued under the 501(c)3 non-profit, Educating for Leadership, Inc. where T3 Alliance continues to thrive with collaboration across the globe on competency-based educational practices.
