Building The Raspberry Pi Box

Goals:

To build you own raspberry pi box.

This lesson is intended for you! To help get your first box built as efficiently as possible. We do not recommend showing this page to students but instead follow the guidance in the lesson plan linked here. The lesson plan involves letting students figure it out on their own and using a growth mindset attitude to collaboratively solve problems to assemble the box :).

Getting Started:

Step 1:

To start we are going to make the bottom half of the box.

 

Step 2:

This is how it should look when you put it together.

 

Step 3:

Use the long screw and square nut to screw the box together.

 

Step 4:

Now we are going to put together the top half of the box.

 

Step 5:

This is how it should look when it’s put together.

 

Step 6:

Use the same screws to screw the box together, but don’t put the screen on yet.

Step 7:

Now we can screw the two halves together.

 

Step 8:

Now you can put the screen on and screw it together.

 

Step 9:

Now you need to screw in the latch, use the small pointy wood screws.

 

Step 10:

Finished Box!

 

Connecting The RPI:

Step 1:

The LCD power cable and the USB C power cable plug into the 3 port USB power supply like this.

 

Step 2:

Connect the USB C cable into the RPI power jack.

 

Step 3:

Then connect the small end of the HDMI cable into the RPI Micro HDMI jack.

 

Step 4:

Connect the round LCD screen power cable to the LCD screen.

 

Step 5:

Then connect the HDMI cable from the LCD screen to the RPI like this.

 

Step 6:

Here’s what it should look like.

 

Step 7:

Then connect the mouse and keyboard to the RPI USB ports and you’re done! Now you have your own Raspberry Pi Computer Box!
